Karl Krauser returning to school

PITTSBURGH, July 22 (UPI) -- University of Pittsburgh point guard Karl Krauser announced Friday he will return to the Big East school next season for his senior campaign.

Krauser had declared for the 2005 NBA Draft, but did not sign with an agent and removed his name from the entry list when it was clear he would likely not be a first-round pick.

He considered playing professionally in Europe, but nixed that idea.

Krauser led the Panthers in scoring last season with a 16 points per game average and also was tops in assists at 5.9 per contest.

He made 54 three-pointers and 51 steals, and shot 75 percent from the free-throw line.

Krauser topped the 1,000-point mark in his college career, becoming just the fifth player in school history to score at least 1,000 points and hand out 400 assists.
