Woods leads British Open after third round

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, July 16 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods overcame a poor start Saturday to shoot one-under par 71 and take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the British Open.

At 12-under par 204, Woods is two up on Jose Maria Olazabal, who shot 3-under 68 Saturday, and two up on Colin Montgomerie and Retief Goosen. Montgomerie shot a 70 Saturday and Goosen fired a 66.

Brad Faxon and Sergio Garcia are tied for fifth at 8-under 208.

U.S. Open champion Vijay Singh was tied with Michael Campbell at 207.

Woods goes into the final round with history on his side -- a record of nine wins and no losses when heading into the final round of a major with a lead.
