MLB: Minnesota 5, LA Angels 4

MINNEAPOLIS, July 16 (UPI) -- A two-run homer by Michael Ryan Saturday night helped Minnesota Twins top the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 5-4.

The homer was the highlight of a five-run fifth inning.

Winning pitcher Johan Santana raised his record to 8-5. He was tagged for five hits and four runs over seven innings with no walks and three strikeouts.

Joe Nathan worked the ninth for his 26th save.

Ryan and Joe Mauer each had two hits for Minnesota, which won for just the third time in nine games.

Orlando Cabrera, activated from the 15-day disabled list before the contest, went 3-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored to lead the Angels, who had a four-game winning streak against Minnesota snapped.

Cabrera had been sidelined since June 26 with a right elbow strain.

Loser Bartolo Colon (11-6) gave up five runs and eight hits over five innings with three walks and five strikeouts.
