MLB: Chi. Cubs 11, Pittsburgh 1

CHICAGO, July 15 (UPI) -- Aramis Ramirez and Jerry Hairston combined to knock in seven runs Friday as the Chicago Cubs slammed Pittsburgh, 11-1.

Winning pitcher Kerry Wood (3-2) contributed a two-run double and gave up only one run and two hits through six innings. Wood did not allow a walk for the second time this season and struck out five, throwing only 75 pitches.

Ramirez hit a three-run homer and Hairston swatted his first career grand slam. Chicago had 16 hits, and has won five in a row on the heels of an eight-game losing streak.

Loser Josh Fogg (4-5) surrendered six runs on seven hits in four innings with no walks or strikeouts.

Jose Castillo had three of the four Pirate hits, including a home run. Pittsburgh has dropped three in a row and has just six hits in its last two games.

Chicago has scored 42 runs during its streak.
