NEW YORK, July 15 (UPI) -- Catcher Johnny Estrada of the Atlanta Braves has been suspended three games and fined for inappropriate conduct in a game against Florida on June 30.
The amount of the fine was not disclosed when the punishment was announced Friday by Major League Baseball.
In the first inning of the Braves' 6-2 loss to the Marlins, Estrada and Manager Bobby Cox were ejected after Estrada began arguing with home plate umpire Doug Eddings. During the incident, Estrada appeared to bump Eddings and was immediately thrown out. Estrada continued with his tantrum and eventually made an obscene gesture in Eddings' direction from the dugout.
The suspension is scheduled to begin immediately unless Estrada appeals. If he does, it will be delayed until the process is completed.
Estrada is batting .273 with three home runs and 32 RBI.
