
DENVER, July 10 (UPI) -- Brian Giles had a triple and three RBI and Damian Jackson three hits and two runs Sunday as the San Diego Padres beat the Colorado Rockies, 8-5.
Xavier Nady and Khalil Greene each homered for the Padres, who have won three of their last four games and go into the All-Star break with a National League West-leading 48-41 record.
The Rockies had three hits each from Garrett Atkins and Luis Gonzalez. Atkins finished with two RBI in the loss, while Todd Helton ended 2-for-3 with a solo home run.
Dustan Mohr hit an inside-the-park homer for Colorado.
Paul Quantrill (1-0) earned the victory with 2 2/3 shutout innings of relief. Trevor Hoffman got the final three outs for his 25th save.
Rockies starter Jeff Francis (8-6) gave up seven runs on seven hits over four inings.
