MLB: Chicago Cubs 9, Florida 2

MIAMI, July 10 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux gave up four hits over eight shutout innings and Derrek Lee homered and had four RBI Sunday as the Chicago Cubs beat the Florida Marlins, 9-2.

Maddux (8-6) didn't walk a batter as he earned his 313th career victory. Maddux, 39, needs one victory to tie Gaylord Perry for 16th on the all-time list and is 12 strikeouts shy of 3,000.

Neifi Perez had three hits and two RBI for the Cubs, who have won three straight after dropping eight in a row. Jerry Hairston, Aramis Ramirez and Lee all doubled and Maddux went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Lee's home run was his 27th of the year, tying him with Atlanta's Andruw Jones for the major league lead.

Carlos Delgado had a two-run homer in the ninth inning for the Marlins' only score. Al Leiter (3-7) took the loss for Florida.
