Lewis leads by three at John Deere Classic

SILVIS, Ill., July 9 (UPI) -- J.L. Lewis shot a 2-under 69 Saturday to widen his lead to three strokes after the third round of the John Deere Classic with a 15-under 198.

Lewis, 44, earned his first PGA Tour title at this event in 1999.

Hank Kuehne had a 67 to share second place with Craig Bowden and Richard S. Johnson at 201. Robert Damron and Jeff Brehaut tied for fifth at 202.

Female amateur Michelle Wie, 15, failed to make the cut after the first two rounds.

Zach Johnson had a 66 Saturday to move into a tie for seventh place with Shigeki Maruyama, Carlos Franco, Joey Snyder III and Sean O'Hair at 10-under 203.
