Ray Allen will re-sign with Sonics

SEATTLE, July 5 (UPI) -- Free agent Ray Allen has agreed to terms with the Seattle SuperSonics on a five-year deal that will pay him $80 million, ESPN reported.

Allen had been courted by LeBron James to join the Cleveland Cavaliers, by coach Mike Dunleavy to come to the Los Angeles Clippers, and by the Atlanta Hawks, said ESPN. In the end, Allen's agent, Lon Babby, said Tuesday Allen decided there's no place like home.

"We did wander in the desert for a while, before we got to the promised land," Babby said in a conference call with reporters. "When Ray became a free agent and we had a chance to explore opportunities, we were able to report back to the Sonics on what the market was dictating and they essentially responded accordingly."

Allen's contract also includes $5 million in performance bonuses.
