MLB: Detroit 3, Cleveland 2

CLEVELAND, July 5 (UPI) -- Magglio Ordonez homered during a three-run third inning Tuesday night as the Detroit Tigers posted a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Mike Maroth (6-9) worked 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball. He gave up four hits and two walks, striking out four to win for just the second time in his last 10 outings.

Carlos Guillen had three hits and a run scored for the Tigers, who halted a four-game losing streak with their third victory in 13 games.

Aaron Boone and Jhonny Peralta homered for Cleveland, which had won nine of 11 prior to Tuesday's contest.
