MLB: Cleveland 3, Baltimore 1

BALTIMORE, July 1 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Indians used a three-run sixth inning Friday night to beat the Baltimore Orioles, 3-1.

Winning pitcher C.C. Sabathia improved to 6-4. He surrendered one run on three hits in 7 2/3 innings with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Travis Hafner had two hits and scored a run for Cleveland, which has won six of seven overall.

Loser Rodrigo Lopez fell to 7-4. Lopez surrendered three runs and nine hits in seven innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

Slumping Baltimore has dropped eight of nine.

Chris Gomez's RBI double provided the lone offense for the Orioles.
