BALTIMORE, June 28 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees overcame a three-run deficit in the closing innings Monday night to post a 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Pinch-hitter Bernie Williams had a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, and Ruben Sierra had two RBI for the Yankees, who closed to 5 1/2 games behind Boston for first place in the AL East.

Gary Sheffield singled in Robinson Cano for an insurance tally in the ninth inning.
Larry Bigbie was 3-for-4 with a homer for the Orioles, who have lost six straight and remain 2 1/2 games behind Boston.
