MLB: Baltimore 5, NY Yankees 4 (10 inn)

BALTIMORE, June 28 (UPI) -- Brian Roberts homered in the bottom of the 10th Tuesday night as the Baltimore Orioles ended a six-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Yankees.

Roberts had two hits and scored three times. Baltimore's Rafael Palmeiro hit his 563rd career homer, tying Reggie Jackson for ninth place on the all-time list. Larry Bigbie homered for a second straight night for the Orioles.

Mike Stanton (1-2) came in to start the bottom of the 10th, but Roberts hit his first pitch over the wall in left field. Baltimore moved within 1 1/2 games of the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox.

B.J. Ryan (1-1) pitched two innings of hitless ball to get the win after Sidney Ponson scattered nine hits and was charged with four runs in eight innings for the Orioles.
