Harrington wins Barclays Classic

HARRISON, N.Y., June 26 (UPI) -- Padraig Harrington sank a 65-foot eagle putt on the final hole Sunday to leapfrog Jim Furyk and win the Barclays Classic at Harrison, N.Y.

With the win, Harrington earned a cool $1,035,000, his largest career payday.

Harrington shot a 1-under 70 over the final 18 holes to finish at 10-under-par 274 overall.

Furyk, who was hoping for hoping for a playoff before Harrington's dramatics, shot an even-par 71 Sunday to finish 9-under-par 275. He made birdie at 18 to finish one shot back of the winner.

At 16, Furyk had a two-shot lead, but three-putted from almost 80 feet.

Brad Faxon and Brian Gay each shot 2-over 73 in the final round and shared third place with Kenny Perry, who shot an even-par 71. The trio came in at 5-under-par 279.
