Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SAN DIEGO, June 23 (UPI) -- A sacrifice fly by Jeff Kent in the 10th inning Thursday helped the Los Angeles Dodgers ease past San Diego, 4-3.
Both Kent and Olmedo Saenz drove in two runs for the Dodgers, who have won two straight following an eight-game skid.
In relief, Duaner Sanchez improved to 2-3 and Yhency Brazoban picked up his 13th save. The Dodgers bullpen worked six scoreless innings in relief of starter Elmer Dessens, who lasted only four innings.
San Diego closer Trevor Hoffman sank to 0-4.
Ryan Klesko hit his 13th home run for the Padres. Both he and Sean Burroughs had two hits.
San Diego lost for only the second time in its past six games.
