Heap signs lengthy contract with Baltimore

BALTIMORE, June 14 (UPI) -- Two-time Pro Bowl tight end Todd Heap agreed Tuesday to a six-year contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens.

Heap, the team's leading receiver in both 2002 and 2003, was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2005 season.

Last season, Heap caught 27 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns for the Ravens. He is currently in Arizona rehabbing shoulder and ankle injuries, the team said.

Heap was the 31st overall selection in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Coming from Arizona State, he was the first tight end selected that year.
