Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
HALLE, Germany, June 11 (UPI) -- U.S. Open and two-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer and Australian Open champion Marat Safin both advanced Saturday to the final at the Gerry Weber Open.
Federer, of Switzerland,posted a 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) win over Tommy Haas of Germany and Safin beat Argentine Guillermo Canas 6-3, 4-6, 62.
Federer is seeking his third straight title here, having beaten American Mardy Fish in last year's finale. Federer has won six titles this season.
