Junior Spivey scored twice during Washington's late-game surge, completing a long day in which he was traded from Milwaukee and then arrived by train from Philadelphia after the game had started.
The loss went to reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa (1-2), who faltered in the eighth inning. The Washington rally made a winner out of Luis Ayala (6-3), who worked a scoreless eighth.
