PARIS, June 2 (UPI) -- Justine Henin-Hardenne and Mary Pierce, both former champions, advanced Thursday to the women's final at the French Open in Paris.
In the semifinals, No. 14 Henin-Hardenne beat Nadia Petrova of Russia, 6-2, 6-3 and now has won 26 of her 27 matches this year.
Pierce, 30, a two-time Grand Slam champion who had beaten world No. 1 Lindsay Davenport in the quarterfinals, is seeded only No. 21 this year. She was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Russia's Elena Likhovtseva, recording five service breaks while holding her own service game all seven times after being broken.
Pierce and Henin-Hardenne will meet for the title Saturday, with the winner pocketing $1 million.
