MLB: Pittsburgh 9, Florida 1

PITTSBURGH, June 1 (UPI) -- A grand slam by Rob Mackowiak paced the Pittsburgh offense Wednesday night and the Pirates blasted Florida, 9-1.

Josh Fogg (4-3) benefited from the onslaught while giving up one run on five hits in six innings. Pittsburgh claimed its third straight game in the four-game series with Matt Lawton and Tike Redman both driving in two runs.

Brian Moehler (2-3) absorbed the loss, surrendering five runs on 10 hits over 5 1/3. Florida has lost seven out of eight.

Mackowiak's grand slam produced the last four runs of the game in the seventh.
