Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 1 (UPI) -- D.J. Carrasco allowed four hits over six shutout innings Wednesday night as Kansas City fought off the New York Yankees, 3-1.
Buddy Bell remained perfect as the Royals' manager, having won both his games since being handed the job Tuesday. Carrasco (1-1) earned the first win of his career as a starter.
Emil Brown had a homer and drove in two of the Royals' runs. Kansas City won for the first time this year when scoring three runs or fewer.
The Yankees dropped their fourth in a row despite a complete game from Randy Johnson (5-4). He gave up nine hits and struck out seven in what was his 500th major league appearance. Johnson had not lost to the Royals in 12 years.
