MLB: St. Louis 3, Washington 1

ST. LOUIS, May 28 (UPI) -- Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer to support the seven-inning pitching of Jeff Suppan Saturday as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Washington Nationals, 3-1.

Jim Edmonds added a solo home run for the NL Central-leading Cardinals, who got their fifth straight victory. The Cardinals are off to their best start in 91 years with a 32-16 record.

Brad Wilkerson scored the only run for the Nationals, who have lost seven of their last eight games.

The Cardinals got all three of their runs in the second inning. Suppan (4-5) had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning.
