
MEMPHIS, May 28 (UPI) -- Justin Leonard posted a 4-under 66 Saturday to stretch his lead to eight strokes at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
Leonard, seeking his 10th career victory on the PGA Tour, stands at 17-under-par 193 through 54 holes.
Heath Slocum had a 67 to move into second at 9-under 201. Tom Pernice, Jr. is third at 202 and Davis Love III, Fred Funk and Paul Goydos share fourth at 203.
Leonard, 32-year-old former British Open champion, led by five strokes at the end of the second round.
"It is nice to have the lead, certainly a lead this big," said Leonard. "I certainly am playing in a nice rhythm right now."
Defending champion David Toms, led by seven strokes heading into the final round last year, had a 65 Saturday to move into a tie for seventh place with Fredrik Jacobson, Bob Estes, Richard S. Johnson and Phillip Price at 6-under 204.
