NFL owners approve sale of Vikings

WASHINGTON, May 25 (UPI) -- National Football League owners Wednesday approved the sale of the Minnesota Vikings to a group led by New Jersey developer Zygmunt Wilf.

Red McCombs bought the club in 1998 for $246 million and reportedly sold it to the Wilf group for $600 million, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported. The transfer of ownership will be finalized June 9.

Businessman Reggie Fowler was the original buyer when McCombs announced the sale Feb. 14, but there were concerns about his finances. Fowler has a minority share in the new group.

Wilf has said he will keep the Vikings in Minnesota.
