Kurt Warner to start for Cardinals

PHOENIX, May 25 (UPI) -- Arizona Coach Dennis Green declared Wednesday that his team's starting quarterback next season will be Kurt Warner.

Warner began the 2004 season as the starter for the New York Giants, but was replaced 10 games into the season by rookie Eli Manning.

He signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals in March.

"I think it's important during this time that the leadership of the team is established and Kurt has clearly demonstrated that he's one of our team leaders," Green said.

Warner won the league's MVP award twice while playing for the St. Louis Rams and led that team to a Super Bowl title in 2000.
