Brian Hill named Orlando Magic coach

ORLANDO, Fla., May 24 (UPI) -- The Orlando Magic Tuesday re-hired Brian Hill as their head coach.

He succeeds Chris Jent, who took over on an interim basis after Johnny Davis was fired with 18 games left in the 2004-05 season.

Hill was promoted to head coach prior to the 1993-94 campaign. In three-and-a-half seasons as head coach of the Magic, he had a record of 191-104. He guided the Magic to a 57-25 record in the 1994-95 season when Orlando captured the Atlantic Division title that season and reached the NBA Finals, only to be swept by the Houston Rockets.

The following year, Orlando posted a franchise-best 60-22 mark, but lost to Chicago in the Eastern Conference finals.

Hill had 40 consecutive wins March 12, 1995-March 19, 1996.

He was relieved of his head coaching duties with the Magic on February 18, 1997.
