MLB: Arizona 6, Detroit 2

DETROIT, May 20 (UPI) -- Craig Counsell's bases-loaded single put Arizona in front in the eighth inning Friday night as the Diamondbacks defeated Detroit, 6-2.

Arizona's Brandon Webb did not surrender a hit until the seventh, but gave up two runs in that inning to leave the game tied.

Counsell then came through with the big hit in a two-run eighth as he went four for five with a franchise record tying three doubles. Arizona added two insurance runs in the ninth.

Webb (6-0) allowed two runs on six hits over eight innings. Jamie Walker (2-2) took the loss.
