SAN DIEGO, May 15 (UPI) -- The San Diego Padres won 2-1 the Florida Marlins in the second contest of a three-game series at Petco Park in San Diego Saturday night.
Jake Peavy (3-0) threw seven innings for San Diego and allowed just one run on five hits and a walk, while recording eight strikeouts. Trevor Hoffman threw a perfect ninth to nail down his 11th save for San Diego.

Al Leiter (1-4) lost his second consecutive start after surrendering both Padre runs in a six-inning stint, giving up three hits, while walking five and striking out three for the Marlins.
