MLB: Baltimore 7, Minnesota 4

BALTIMORE, May 11 (UPI) -- B.J. Surhoff singled in the go-ahead run as part of a three-run eighth Wednesday as Baltimore downed Minnesota, 7-4.

Baltimore, which has won five of its last seven, benefited from a strong outing by Sidney Ponson (5-1). He allowed four runs in eight innings, after which B.J. Ryan worked the ninth for the save.

Minnesota lost for only the second time in seven outings.

Matt Guerrier (0-1), in relief of Johan Santana, gave up a leadoff double to Miguel Tejada in the eighth. Javy Lopez drew a walk and Surhoff then singled in the go-ahead run off J.C. Romero.
