PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., May 10 (UPI) -- The ATP announced Tuesday that New Haven, Conn., will hold a $650,000 tennis tournament the week before the U.S. Open.

The tournament will be played concurrently with the WTA Tour event at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale University.

The combined tournament, operated by the USTA, is called the Pilot Pen Tennis. The men's portion will be held Aug. 21-28.

The tournament replaces the TD Waterhouse Cup on Long Island.

New Haven hosted an ATP event from 1990-98.
