MLB: St. Louis 15, San Diego 5

ST. LOUIS, May 8 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Cardinals erupted for 11 runs in the first inning Sunday and posted a 15-5 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Scott Rolen had four RBI in that first inning and David Eckstein and Larry Walker each added three hits, three runs and two RBI.

Winner Jason Marquis (5-1) gave up four runs on six hits in six innings. It was his 20th win in just over a season as a Cardinal.

Jesse Garcia, Ryan Klesko, Brian Giles and Robert Fick homered for the Padres. Tim Redding (0-5) got the start for San Diego, but lasted only two-thirds of an inning.
