May 6, 2005 at 1:01 PM

PHILADELPHIA, May 6 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Phillies placed reliever Tim Worrell on the 15-day disabled list Friday, at his request.

"I called (General Manager) Ed Wade ... to tell him that I am dealing with some personal psychological issues that I need to resolve," Worrell said in a statement released by the team.

"They are affecting my family life and my ability to do my job. I am going to deal with these issues and I hope to resolve them as quickly as possible. I appreciate the Phillies' understanding and their pledge of confidentiality."

Worrell is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA in 14 appearances this season.
