MLB: Baltimore 3, Kansas City 1

BALTIMORE, May 6 (UPI) -- Sidney Ponson allowed one run on five hits over eight innings Friday night, carrying Baltimore to a 3-1 win over Kansas City.

Ponson (4-1) struck out a season-best eight while winning his third straight. B.J. Ryan picked up his sixth save.

B.J. Surhoff had three hits and drove in two runs for the Orioles, who won their second in a row.

Denny Bautista (2-2) gave up three runs on six hits in 3 2/3 to take the loss. It was Kansas City's fourth straight setback.

All of runs came in the fourth inning.
