INDIANAPOLIS, May 5 (UPI) -- Antoine Walker put Boston ahead to stay in overtime Thursday night and the Celtics forced a Game 7 against Indiana with a 92-89 win over the Pacers.
The Celtics overcame a bizarre end to regulation, in which Paul Pierce was called for a technical foul just as Boston appeared ready to earn a victory.
The concluding game of the series will be played in Boston on Saturday.
Boston had a one-point lead and the ball with 13 seconds left in regulation when Pierce received an inbounds pass. He was fouled by Anthony Johnson, after which Pierce shoved Johnson.
Although the shove was not violent, Johnson fell down and Pierce was ejected for his second technical.
Indiana's Reggie Miller made the technical free throw to tie it, after which Kendrick Perkins was designated by the Pacers to take the foul shots Pierce would have tried.
Perkins missed them both and Miller then missed a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
Walker put Boston in front for good with 3:12 remaining in the extra period and scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half and overtime.
