Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, May 5 (UPI) -- The Chicago White Sox edged Kansas City 2-1 Thursday, improving to 21-7, best record in the major leagues.
Chicago, which won its fifth straight game, had only two hits. The White sox got both their runs on bases-loaded walks by Royals relievers in the eighth inning.
Tony Graffanino homered for Kansas City.
Jose Contreras (1-0) yielded four hits and a run in eight innings. He walked one and had six strikeouts. Loser Zack Greinke, who pitched seven innings, fell to 0-3.
