Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, May 1 (UPI) -- Jon Garland pitched his second straight shutout and Timo Perez and Carl Everett had three RBI Sunday as the Chicago White Sox bet the Detroit Tigers, 8-0.
Garland (5-0) gave up just four hits while stretching his scoreless innings streak to 23. He became the first five-game winner in the American League.
The White Sox scored six times against Detroit starter Wilfredo Ledezma over the first five innings.
The White Sox have won 10 of their last 13 games.
