MLB: Chicago Cubs 5, Pittsburgh 2

CHICAGO, April 24 (UPI) -- Neifi Perez and Jeromy Burnitz hit home runs Sunday to power the Chicago Cubs to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Perez was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Cubs won for the third time in their last five games.

Kerry Wood (1-1) got his first win of the season. He gave up two runs on just three hits and struck out eight in five innings.

Freddy Sanchez had two hits for the Pirates, who had a two-game winning streak stopped. Dave Williams (1-2) got the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in six innings.
