ST. LOUIS, April 22 (UPI) -- Mark Grudzielanek and So Taguchi helped St. Louis build a seven-run lead with two-run doubles Friday night and the Cardinals fought off Houston, 8-7.

St. Louis won for the seventh time in eight games, scoring eight runs in the first four innings against Houston starter Brandon Duckworth.

Adam Everett had a three-run double for Houston in a five-run sixth to get the Astros back in the game.

Jason Marquis improved to 3-0 this year despite allowing five runs over 5 2/3. Jason Isringhausen worked the ninth to save his sixth game.
