Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
CHICAGO, April 23 (UPI) -- Freddy Sanchez hit a ninth-inning RBI triple Saturday to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs, 4-3.
Jason Bay hit a game-tying home run in the ninth for the Pirates, who have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Corey Patterson homered for the Cubs, who have dropped two in a row and three of their last five games. Chicago's Greg Maddux held the Pirates to just two runs on four hits over eight innings.
The Cubs had gone ahead 3-2 in the eighth when Patterson led off the bottom of the inning with his fourth home run of the season.
