NEW ORLEANS, April 18 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves posted a 102-99 victory Monday over the New Orleans Hornets.
Wally Szczerbiak had 18 points to lead the Timberwolves. Sam Cassell added 16 points and Kevin Garnett 14.

The Timberwolves have won three of their last four games but were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday when they lost to Seattle.
Casey Jacobsen had 15 points for the Hornets, who took their eighth straight loss. New Orleans must win their final game on Wednesday to avoid the worst record in franchise history.
