LOS ANGELES, April 17 (UPI) -- The Dallas Mavaricks staved off a late Los Angeles Lakers comeback effort Sunday and won 114-112 to post their seventh straight victory.
Dirk Nowitski scored 24 points, Michael Finley 20 and Jason Terry 17 with 10 assists for the Mavericks, who have the fourth seed for the Western Conference playoffs.

Dallas held an 85-70 lead after three quarters, but was outscored 42-29 in the final period.
Kobe Bryant returned to the Laker lineup after a one-game absence and had 33 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. The Lakers have lost four straight and 17 of 19 games.
