MLB: Seattle 5, Chicago White Sox 4

CHICAGO, April 17 (UPI) -- The Seattle Mariners posted a 5-4 victory Sunday to beat the Chicago White Sox for the first time in their past nine meetings.

Ichiro Suzuki and Raul Ibanez both homered and Randy Winn added three hits for Seattle.

Carl Everett homered and Tadahito Iguchi had three hits for Chicago, which lost for just the fourth time in 12 games this season.

Gil Meche (1-0) earned the win. He allowed three runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings. Eddie Guardado gave up a run in the ninth, but got his third save of the season.

Freddy Garcia (1-1), who pitched the first five-plus years of his career with Seattle, was charged with the loss. Garcia gave up five runs on nine hits in seven innings.
