Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CLEVELAND, April 16 (UPI) -- Lew Ford and Torii Hunter both had three-run homers Saturday to power the Minnesota Twins to a 6-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Hunter was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while helping the Twins capture their sixth consecutive victory.
Dave Gassner (1-0), filling in for injured Carlos Silva, made his major league debut. He gave up two runs -- one earned -- and three hits over six innings.
A 26-year-old lefthander, Gassner became the first Minnesota pitcher to win his first big-league start in seven years.
Jose Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Indians. Cleveland has lost four of its last five games. Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
