Eddy Curry to miss rest of the season

CHICAGO, April 14 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bulls announced Thursday that center Eddy Curry would not play for the rest of the season because of a heart condition.

Although a specific diagnosis has not been made, Curry has been out of action for the last nine games after it was discovered he had an irregular heartbeat.

Team physician Dr. Brian Cole said Thursday that Curry had undergone a series of tests and that the tests would continue in hopes of reaching a diagnosis in the next six weeks.

"Eddy's health is our number one concern and we are going to do everything in our power to make sure that everything is okay with him before he returns," said Bulls Executive Vice President John Paxson. "It's disappointing he will not be able to finish out the year, but the priority is his health and his future."

"It's very frustrating for me," Curry said. "I feel normal and want to go out there and be a factor. Right now I am listening to the doctors and praying."

The Bulls will be taking part in the playoffs this season for the first time in eight years.
