MLB: St. Louis 5, Cincinnati 1

ST. LOUIS, April 12 (UPI) -- Jason Marquis pitched into the seventh and also hit a bases-loaded triple Tuesday night to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-1 win over Cincinnati.

Marquis (1-0) gave up one run, while scattering five hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Jim Edmonds and Reggie Sanders hit back-to-back homers in the sixth and each scored two runs in the win. Edmonds homer was his 1,500 career-hit.

Austin Kearns had an RBI single to provide the only offense for Cincinnati starter and loser Aaron Harang (1-1).
