MLB: Seattle 2, Kansas City 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 13 (UPI) -- Seattle broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the seventh inning Wednesday and held off Kansas City for a 2-1 victory.

Aaron Sele (1-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings and got the win with the help of relivers Shigetoshi Hasegawa, Ron Villone and Eddie Guardado.

Bret Boone had two hits and scored a run for the Mariners. Randy Winn also had two hits.

Jaime Cerda (0-1) was the losing pitcher. Calvin Pickering drove in the Royals' run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
