MLB: Pittsburgh 6, San Diego 3

SAN DIEGO, April 10 (UPI) -- Dave Williams allowed one run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings Sunday and Pittsburgh held off San Diego, 6-3.

Pittsburgh went in front with four unearned runs in the fourth inning. Tim Redding took the loss even though Pittsburgh did not score an earned run against him.

A throwing error by Khalil Greene prolonged the fourth and David Ross then highlighted the inning with a two-run single. Williams contributed an RBI single in the frame.

San Diego left 11 runners on base.

It marked the first time this season Pittsburgh had managed to score more than three runs this season.
