PHOENIX, April 7 (UPI) -- Troy Glaus hit a home run and drove in three runs to lead Arizona over the Chicago Cubs 8-3 Wednesday.

Jose Cruz added three RBI and Luis Gonzalez got two hits and scored three runs for the Diamondbacks.

Michael Barrett belted a three-run homer for the Cubs.

Brandon Webb (1-0) got the win, allowing five hits and two runs in 5 1/3 innings.

The loser was Ryan Dempster (0-1), who gave up seven runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings.
