HOUSTON, March 25 (UPI) -- Houston Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson has been signed to a multi-year contract extension, team owner Leslie Alexander said Friday.

Dawson is in his 25th season with the franchise, ninth as GM.

"It is great for our organization to have someone of his experience when it comes to dealing in league matters," Alexander said. "We signed him to a multi-year extension in order to ensure he remains a member of the Rockets family for years to come."

Before moving to the front office, Dawson worked as an assistant under four Houston coaches: Del Harris (1980-83), Bill Fitch (1983-88), Don Chaney (1988-92) and Rudy Tomjanovich (1992-96).
