HS basketball player dies during game

DULUTH, Minn., March 25 (UPI) -- Investigators are trying to determine why a high school basketball player died after collapsing during an all-star game in Minnesota.

WDIO-TV in Duluth reports that Jarrett Brenner, 18, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died in a hospital emergency room. Brenner collapsed during half-time at the Pepsi All-Star Game in Duluth, which features a Duluth team playing a team assembled from Iron Range high schools.

Brenner was the leading scorer on the Grand Rapids team.

The Grand Rapids coach told the television station that the play was fast during the first half and that the gymnasium at Duluth High School was very hot.

The remainder of the game was called off.
